About Errand Machine

Errand Machine started in 2021 in a Chicago apartment, when co-founder Hannah Brooks spent an entire Saturday returning packages, picking up a prescription and waiting for a repairman who arrived four hours late. The realization was simple: the errands weren't hard, they were just endless, and plenty of capable people nearby would gladly help for fair pay.

We launched with 30 runners and a few hundred households in Chicago, and grew mostly through word of mouth. Neighbors told neighbors, and soon small offices were asking whether they could use the service for courier drop-offs and key handoffs. That demand led to team spaces, approvals and expense integrations.

Today we serve nine US metro areas with a community of vetted, insured runners who have completed more than 412,000 errands. Runners keep 100% of tips, set their own schedules and earn above the local living wage, because good service comes from people who are treated well.

We're a team of about 60 based in Chicago and remote across the country. We're independent, profitable on a per-market basis, and focused on building calm, dependable software that gives people their time back.

What we value

Earn trust on every errand

People hand us their keys, prescriptions and time. We vet carefully, communicate clearly and make it right when something goes wrong.

Treat runners like partners

Runners are the heart of the service. Fair pay, full tips, flexible schedules and real support make better errands for everyone.

Make the calm choice

We design software that removes stress instead of adding notifications. If a feature doesn't save someone time or worry, it doesn't ship.
